This 18-minute video clip focuses on the trivialization of sexual violence (SV) in an academic setting. Various testimonies based on situations that happened in the academic community are presented, as well as additional information.
It was developed in light of the definition of SV included in the Act to prevent and fight sexual violence in higher education institutions and the work of the Chaire de recherche sur les violences sexistes et sexuelles en milieu d’enseignement supérieur (VSSMES).

This video examines sexual violence taking place in academic settings. It provides a comprehensive overview on the issue, through examples of trivialization which represent all belonging to the academic community, This includes students, employees and the faculty as a whole. In addition, the testimonies shared are given through the perspective of a student, victim, witness, or even as the perpetrator of a sexually violent crime.
Diversity is also seen through the video’s actors, drawing attention to the topic of racialized people. The testimonies are also diverse and do not only represent female victims and male abusers, but the opposite as well. Finally, the testominies are not heteronormative, since many of the stories come from people who are part of the LGBTQ+ community.
