Description
A new prevention tool against violence for 9 to 12 year olds is now available on the web and devices Apple and Android. Through the fun and educational game FUTURAVILLE: Together against violence!, young people will have the opportunity to be made aware and better equipped to prevent violence.

“Thanks to a grant awarded by the Ministry of Health and Social Services, the Regroupement des organismes ESPACE du Québec (ROEQ) offers a fun and educational game that addresses the concepts of prevention of violence against children in a safe, secure and fun manner. Winner of the best social impact game award at the MÉGAMIGS 2020 event, FUTURAVILLE will allow children to become agents of change in the prevention against violence ”says Janie Bergeron, ROEQ coordinator.

The ROEQ worked in collaboration with the Quebec video game and mobile application development studio Triple Boris for the production of FUTURAVILLE. The child who enters the game universe is welcomed in a futuristic city where some children of his age do not feel very well and go through various difficult situations. The mission of the game is to find the children in the city and to seek information to understand what is going on in their life. The child must then try to help the young people of Futuraville by finding solutions to react to the situation of violence they are experiencing and, thus, help them regain confidence and feel better.

“Through this game, children learn the different types of violence, the strategies to use if they witness or experience violence themselves, as well as the resources available to help them. The goal is therefore for them to learn the concepts of prevention against violence while having fun, ”adds Karine Savoie, communications and innovations coordinator.

Parents and anyone working with young people aged 9 to 12 can take advantage of this tool to discuss violence prevention with them and educate them on the subject.
