The purpose of hacking is to illegally gain access to personal or corporate information or content. It can take several forms such as phishing, using ransomware, malware, or fake websites.
Although it is impossible to protect yourself completely, here are some tips to protect yourself from hackers:
- Keep your intimate pictures and confidential information in a secure folder;
- Protect your devices with an antivirus software, a firewall, and a VPN;
- Avoid sharing your personal information or login credentials;
- Avoid accessing your personal or financial data on public Internet networks (e.g. in a café, at the library);
- Be cautious when opening links and attachments or downloading apps across your devices.
