The inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in our societies is not only a matter of obtaining new legal rights, nor of fighting against the discrimination they may potentially suffer. It also involves a wider representation of LGBTQ+ people in the media and in artistic productions. For the last decades, cultural and artistic productions, whether they are video games, television series or films, have given an increasingly important place to queer people. From the Wachowski sisters' series Sense8 (2015-2018) to the trans Lev character in the video game The Last of Us Part 2 (2020), queer representations seem to be increasing. However, beyond these examples, is the situation really tending to improve? Research tends to show a still glaring deficit of models, representations and presence of queer people in the media. The issues surrounding these representations are numerous, not only to show queer people, but also to show the diversity of bodies, ages, sexualities and gender identities. This scientific review will focus on the issues related to queer people.
