Over the past two years, recorded cases of sexual and gender-based cyberviolence have increased significantly (Charlebois, 2022). Technological advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence and anonymization, drive the digitization of these forms of violence (Dodge, 2015), undermining the rights to security and sexual agency of Canadians, especially women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals.
With an extensive expertise in cybersexualities and cyberviolence, and guided by an advisory committee of expert partners, the Collective Intelligence: Together Against Gender-Based Cyberviolence project by Les 3 sex* meets the urgent need for research and practical resources to prevent sexual and gender-based cyberviolence targeting women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals.
Objectives
This project aims to develop, publish, and disseminate resources to prevent and fight gender-based and sexual cyberviolence. Specifically, the project will:
- Produce and distribute a research report that draws from both scientific research and grey literature, targeting researchers, government officials, and the general public.
- Design and share a practical educational resource for professionals and the general public to increase awareness and understanding of sexual and gender-based cyberviolence.
- Organize and host a seminar on sexual and gender-based cyberviolence and create a report for researchers, professionals, and the general public.
