Has your sexual life taken a turn towards the web and social media since the start of the pandemic? Online sex turns you on, but how do you know if it is safe?

From May 31st to June 11th, Les 3 sex* will address issues related to cybersexuality as part of the “Protagoniste de ton cyberplaisir” campaign, funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the forced migration of social relationships online. Sexuality is no exception to this shift - already underway - towards the digital. Still, uncertainty persists concerning how to experience healthy and fulfilling sexuality online. The goal of this campaign is, therefore, to disseminate popularized scientific content on cybersexuality by offering positive alternatives to young people to live their sexuality in a safe way during the pandemic. By adopting an approach that addresses potential offenders and the people who may be victims, this project aims to offer alternatives to problematic sexual behaviour.

Instagram Live: Porn, Sexting and Online Sexual Services

As part of the campaign, an Instagram Live was organized on June 9th, 2021 to discuss topics related to cybersexuality. Hosted by Mylène de Repentigny-Corbeil, three guests joined to discuss pornography, online sexual services, sexting, and consent.

  • Alexandra Fournier (she/her), a master’s candidate in sexology (research-intervention pathway) at UQAM, is interested in the use of feminist pornography.
  • Estelle Cazelais (she/her/they/them), a reckless sexologist, is obsessed with the impacts of static or moving images. She questions how they influence psychosexual development in humans. She will talk about sharing intimate images.
  • Melodie Nelson (she/her) was an escort, phone sex operator, camgirl, and sexy waitress. She now writes for the newsletter, Nouvelles Intimes, on Substack. From her bed, she will talk about online sexual services.
